What….This week in class the assignment is to create a Google Site. This may sound hard and so far I am not sure. When we went through it in class in was confusing but then the upside is that it looks as if it will work by following the steps, but do I have all of the steps? It looks like the homework will be an adventure. I think my boys are more excited about my homework assignment than me. I can see myself taking up hours making it ‘pretty’.
So What…..I think this is one of the best assignments for practical knowledge. As a parent I really like the idea of going to a website for all of my child’s information such as homework, websites and upcoming events. As a teacher I think it is great having a place to store all of the important information and to keep it updated. I see the website as a tool to open conversations with parents. I do understand that not all parents and students have access to the internet and I understand that parts of my future website might need to have some Spanish. I am excited to keep learning!
Now What….I think that the technology I am learning today will help students to build upon since it seems that technology is moving extremely fast. I do hope that when I start teaching the other teachers will want to collaborate on lesson plans and using technology. I personally love learning from short film clips, reading, interactive games and discussion.
