PSA Podcast

What?
This week I learned about Podcasts. Lila and I did a podcast about internet safety recorded on an iPhone.

So What?
As a teacher I see using the podcast and the vidcast as a way to enhance lesson plans. I see technology as a way for students to be excited and use items they see every day such as iPhones. I see maybe even having technology as a reward for students. I do think it would be harder to grade 12 podcasts compared to paperwork but then hopefully the students might retain the information longer.


Now What?
As a future teacher I see using a podcast or vidcast as a way for students to present information. I think some students would really like the opportunity to express what they have learned through technology. I can see students using a vidcast to give a book report by dressing up as the character or acting out a scene from the book or to present a state report. I can also see using a podcast in a similar way. Those students can use a pod cast to narrate a state report or read sections of a book with sound effects. I know that some students would love to report this way instead of formally writing. I see technology as a help to get over a hurdle and an option.
