When I took the survey about my strengths and weaknesses I was pleasantly surprised, yahoo! For me I was not in the bottom but more towards the top in all categories. I would like to be more categorized as an expert than a practitioner. I saw that a lot of the questions were great but since I have not been in the classroom that much I am not sure just how much to integrate technology. At this point I think it is all good but I do not know all of the rules. By rules I am looking at how to manage students to stay on task and to the correct websites. I am not sure how some parents feel about their students on the internet for the same reasons. As a parent a few years ago one of the teachers sent home a letter asking permission for my child to visit certain websites during school. I loved it! As a parent I was able to be part of the experience and appreciate some really good sites.
I have noticed that in Provo School District that they use Mac’s and so I checked out the Apple site and called the store. I have not worked on a Mac and so I was glad to know that there are lots of places for help. So I did check out Youtube and there are tons of wonderful people posting tutorials and help with any technology.
The website I liked was Teacher Tap and then internet4classrooms. I liked how this site had many introduction pieces. I think as a future teacher I would just go through them one by one to see what they had to offer. There is so much there that if one does not seem to “gel” then there are others to try. I think the support is out there to try new technology but it can seem scary.
