My belief on technology in the classroom is that there should be technology in the classroom and it should be used everyday. After being in a classroom with the only technology being an overhead projector I was bored. When I was little I had an overhead projector and I remember thinking it was old stuff.
One of the articles was about students and their everyday writing and school writing. I really liked the suggestion of having students find a topic on the internet that they are passionate about and write a response, especially on the internet, for example a news channel. I love how this shows students that they can have input and that they do need to think through a logical stance to gain support from others or to listen to others that are better writers.
I have seen math problems on a Smartboard where the teacher did each step in a different color. There are so many options available today to enhance learning. I see helping students realize other cultures by a emailing a pen pal from another country and actually asking the other student interview questions and report to the class. So many possibilities to work with. I do not want to be one of those teachers that has the same rut every month every school year. I don’t want to bore my students and I really don’t want to be bored in my job, so change it up and enhance it with technology.
